Scandia Present gilt and plated utilitarian objects in tin, brass and chromed steel, often packaging the tinware in small wooden boxes. The Karlshamn-based firm descended from Ystad-Metall and carried forward its tradition of casting bronzes after Swedish artists, launching a series in 1978 under the motto "distinguished art at a sensible price". Lisa Larson contributed "Myran", "Storseglar'n" and "Tonåring"; Stig Lindberg designed "Månfisken" and "Solfågeln"; Bror Forslund made "Dansa min docka", "Ida" and a monumental gull installed outside a Karlshamn school. Gunnar Ander shaped much of the commercial range during the firm's peak years in the seventies and eighties, when gilt pieces and the boxed tin series sold widely. Orrefors acquired the company in 1989 and ran it as a separate subsidiary before selling to Gense, which moved production to Eskilstuna.
