Table lights

Shades go first, then finials, so a table lamp is judged by its base: ceramic, brass, glass or enamel. Desk and bedside lamps, some on a studio pottery base, most on a factory one. Look for chips at the foot where base met table, and a socket loosened by years of lifting by the shade.
