Set of four SE 68 chairs, design from 1951. Early edition by Wilde + Spieth. Molded plywood painted in black and tubular steel. In good condition, with signs of use consistent with age. The iconic SE 68 chair combines a lightweight steel frame with curved seat and backrest to adapt to the body. It was a pioneering design in Germany for combining molded wood and metal tubing, achieving a sober, elegant and fully modern silhouette. The warm wooden surfaces contrast with the industrial precision of the chromed legs. The backrests appear suspended on two thin supports, while the curve of the seat provides comfort and visual lightness. Egon Eiermann was an essential figure in post-war German architecture and design. His creations are preserved in institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the SE 68 continues to be part of the classic collection of Wilde + Spieth.
