The legs and upper uprights of the backrest have a tubular profile with an organic appearance that denotes notable quality in materials and craftsmanship. Although an architect by training, Silvio Coppola stood out fundamentally as a multifaceted figure in industrial and graphic design in postwar Italy. His work as consultant and artistic director for prestigious firms such as Bernini, Alessi and Cassina was key to the international projection of Italian design. He is represented in the permanent collections of MoMA, among others
