ARNE JACOBSEN (Denmark, 1902 – 1971) for FRITZ HANSEN. "Egg Chair with ottoman", period original from the 1960s. New upholstery in cognac-colored aniline leather, on a four-leg base, the old original model with profiled legs. The base shows some marks, but the leather is like new. Manufactured by Fritz Hansen. The Egg chair was designed in 1958 by Arne Jacobsen for the Radisson SAS Royal hotel in Copenhagen, and was published by the Danish firm Fritz Hansen. It soon became a symbol of modern design, featuring in some scenes of the futuristic film "2001: A Space Odyssey". The chair is formed by a single-piece polyurethane shell with fiberglass reinforcement, molded in a concave shape, which has been covered with elegant upholstery. The shell has an adjustable tilt mechanism that can be adjusted to the individual user's weight. The tilt mechanism is made of steel, while the adjustment handle is made of polished stainless steel. Aniline leather is made from high-quality raw leather. The leather has a completely natural stripped surface where all natural marks are visible, helping to emphasize the unique character of the leather. Aniline leather changes over time through use and the effects of light, quickly developing a naturally beautiful patina.
