These glasses are widely attributed to Carlo Moretti (hexagonal or octagonal series of the 1970s) or, alternatively, to Nason Moretti's production. Some sources link the original design of the hexagonal shape also to Carlo Scarpa for Venini. The structure is made of mouth-blown, hand-finished glass, resulting in extremely light and refined to the touch. Each piece is embellished with a thin profile in 24-karat gold applied hot to the upper rim, which gives a timeless shine. These glasses represent an icon of 20th-century Italian design. The series was so significant that it became part of the MoMA New York permanent collection (for the 1974 version).
