Josef Lorenzl (1892–1950) was a prominent Austrian sculptor and ceramic artist active during the first half of the 20th century. He is best known for his elegant Art Deco figures in bronze, chryselephantine and porcelain, often depicting dancing women in motion, characterized by grace, lightness and period-typical modernity. Lorenzl worked for the well-known Viennese factories Goldscheider, Keramos and Porzellanfabrik Hertwig, where his models became some of the most iconic of the period. His works are distinguished by stylized forms, sensual elegance and a harmonious balance between movement and line play, which clearly reflects the aesthetics of Art Deco. Together with contemporary artists such as Stefan Dakon, Lorenzl helped define the Viennese Art Deco style, and his sculptures are today highly sought after by collectors worldwide for their timeless beauty and refined design
