This work represents Fontana's iconic Concetto Spaziale (Spatial Concept) series, which he began in 1947. Fontana was the founder of Spazialismo (Spatialism), an artistic movement born in Buenos Aires in 1946 that challenged traditional art by incorporating new techniques and creating art in the fourth dimension. His revolutionary approach combined sculpture and painting by breaking the two-d the canvas. The work is part of the historic XX:e siècle art review published in Paris, which featured original prints by major 20th-century artists. Fontana had several exhibitions in Sweden during the 1960s, including shows at Galerie Pierre in Stockholm and a major exhibition at Moderna Museet in 1967
